Web Processor Expert
Graphical IDE

GRAPHICAL IDE (integrated development environment) was developed to introduce the power of a platform-independent, Web-based software tool into the arena of development tools for embedded systems. Graphical IDE can be run from any computer connected to the Internet that has an Internet browser with Java support installed. Using Graphical IDE, the user is able to design an application from scratch without having to do the low-level programming of the microcontroller chosen for the application.

The Graphical IDE is in fact a front-end interface to the famous Processor Expert tool. It uses components - for their similarity with Java Beans called Embedded Beans - as building blocks for the user applications. Embedded Beans are characterized by set of properties, methods, and events. They can be perceived as "black boxes" encapsulating the functionality of basic elements of embedded systems like CPU core, CPU on-chip peripherals, standalone peripherals, virtual devices, programmable arrays and pure software algorithms.

The basic features of the Graphical IDE and Processor Expert are highlighted in the following paragraph:

  • Graphical IDE and Processor Expert allow rapid application development of embedded applications
  • the user applications are built from components - Embedded Beans
  • Graphical IDE and Processor Expert use the true top-down approach to application design - the user chooses required functionality instead of having to study the exhaustive hardware manuals to be able to find the peripheral, which match his requirements
  • automatic connection of the Embedded Beans to the physical CPU peripherals is provided
  • an extensive library of beans encapsulating microprocessors, peripherals and virtual devices is provided in every version
  • the set of Embedded Beans, provided within all versions of Graphical IDE and Processor Expert, is highly unified. This means that the user does not have to study the beans and their functionality again and again with a new version of these development tools.
  • the unified set of Embedded Beans also allows changing the CPU type in a project without any need for rewriting the code - the expert knowledge
  • the database of Processor Expert manages all the differences automatically, so the functionality of the project stays the same.
